Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Agave eco-friendly?

Agave is a plant that grows in some of the driest areas of the world, the plant needs approximately 4 years to grow before it is ready to harvest and from there, the leaves can be harvested several times a year for up to 15 years. Agave is a resource saving plant and needs very little water and no fertilisers or pesticides at all. During the growing phase, other plants and crops like corn or beans are cultivated between the agaves, which counteracts monocultures and improves the soil quality due to humification of harvest residues.

Away from paper, agave fibres are traditionally used in the production of ropes, yarns, carpets as well as geotextiles and mattresses. New applications are being researched, both the building and the car industry are working on using this sustainable material. For example, it can be used for insulating materials and fibreboards. Agave can be used as a fibre composite material, as it is lighter than glass fibre.

Why are my order items dispatched separately?

In the absence, yet, of a print on demand service provider who will produce fine art prints and cards on appropriate eco-friendly papers, if you have ordered prints and cards these will be fulfilled by two separate businesses. We are continually searching for suppliers to meet our relevant criteria so we can in turn reduce our carbon footprint in this regard.
